If Sara Michelle-Geller were alive, she would own this. That said, it’s a good thing Will Arnett was Gob Bluth and made that sex tape with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, or I would hate him with every fiber of feeling I possess. Do you realize this is the second movie he’s made with Dax Sheppard (and that the first was directed by Bob Odenkirk? What the fuck? I feel stabbed in the heart.) Or that his wife, Amy Poehler, is actually not very funny, and actually made Weekend Update unbearable with her little pleased-with-her-cute-little-joke smirk after every delivery (not to mention the insufferable “Really?” segment, which didn’t belong on a sketch comedy show but as part of a cell phone campaign put out by T-Mobile to combat Alltel and that charming son-of-a-bitch Chad)? I mean, why does SNL even do Weekend Update anymore? Haven’t they ever seen The Daily Show? When I was growing up, Weekend Update was my favorite part of SNL, first with Kevin Nealon and then with Norm McDonald (not so much with Colin Quinn, who was so bad, I can’t even find a video example to link to). But then Jon Stewart became the host of The Daily Show, and, along with Steve Carrell and Stephen Colbert and others, showed how a fake news program should be done. SNL continuing to do Update is akin to McDonald’s continuing to serve pizza despite hundreds (thousands?) of other establishments’ far superior pie.

Oh, and When In Rome makes me wish Romans shot themselves through the mouths.
